New team member: Michael Davy

Welcome to Michael Davy, a new ECE team research technician.

Michael Davy has joined the Ecosystem Change Ecology team at CSIRO. His role will be focused on supporting research that determines the composition, structure and function of invasive plant communities with an aim to limiting their negative impacts in the face of rapid global change. Michael brings almost 20 years of experience in empirical field ecology to the role, with expertise in plant and soil ecology in both managed and natural ecosystems.

Before joining CSIRO, Michael was a Technical Officer at the NSW Department of Agriculture, where he assisted implementing plant variety trials, spray trials, soil amendment research and greenhouse gas sampling. Michael also spent 10 years in rural NSW undertaking soil and vegetation surveys, undertaking property vegetation plans and promoting sustainable agriculture. During this period he became interested in soil carbon distribution as influenced by land management and led a research project examining variations in the Murray Catchment. He also a longstanding interest in the spatial distribution of ecological communities as influenced by climate, geology, topography, soil and land-use.
