New team member: Steven Woodhams

Welcome to Steven who will be undertaking his Masters project in the Ecosystem Change Ecology team.

Steven Woodhams

Steven will be working on a collaboration between CSIRO, the University of Western Australia and the DBCA’s Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority at Bold Park. His Masters project aims to combine detailed field-based physiological measurements of canopy water status with novel remote sensing approaches to monitor the condition of mature tuart trees – Eucalyptus gomphocephala – in Perth’s Bold Park. This will allow him understand how canopy condition in this urban woodland varies both seasonally and across longer time periods spanning multiple decades. In the process, he aims to develop early warning signals of canopy decline and resilience derived from drone and satellite imagery that will facilitate the management and conservation of this bushland sanctuary in the heart of Perth. Steven is supervised by Tommaso Jucker and Karen Bell.
